                    PARTNERS HOLDINGS PLC (THE "COMPANY")


                Suspension of listing at the Company's request

A reduction by its bankers in the facilities available to the Company's
principal trading subsidiary, Partners The Stationers Limited, following lower
than forecast Christmas sales, has resulted in trading difficulties at that
company which have placed in doubt the agreed sale of Partners The Stationers
Limited to a private retail group. If a sale does not take place within the
next 24 hours, the Company will have to apply to have Partners The Stationers
Limited put into administration. Partners The Stationers Limited is the only
material business in the Company's group and, consequently, the Board of
Partners Holdings PLC has requested that the Company's listing be suspended
pending the clarification of its financial position.
