The Company has been notified today that BBC Pension Trust Limited has acquired
an additional 152,100 ordinary shares of 5p each on Oxford Instruments plc, thus
increasing its total interest to 1,608,100 shares, representing 3.2% of that
class of capital.

These shares are registered in the name of Twenty-Nine Gracechurch Street
Nominees Limited A/c 5027.
