                                 APPOINTMENT                                  


The Board of Chemring Group PLC ("Chemring") has appointed Mr David Evans as
Managing Director.  Mr Evans is 52 years old and joined Chemring as an
executive director in 1988 from GEC-Marconi.

Mr Evans will continue to report to Mr Peter Molony, who will remain Chief
Executive until the end of the year.  It is expected that Mr Molony will
remain on the Board as a non-executive director thereafter.

Chemring Chairman, Mr Ken Scobie said: "We have now largely completed the
reconstruction of the Group that we began last year.  David Evans has a
detailed knowledge of our business and has worked closely with Peter Molony."

The appointment takes immediate effect.
