                         TRADING STATEMENT

I would like to make a short statement on the progress of the Group
since the beginning of the financial year in October.

All businesses in the Group are trading profitably.

In  my  Statement  in  last  year  s annual report, I said that the
defence  order book was strong.  This continues to be the case, and
the  work-on-hand  is  at  a higher level than the beginning of the
financial year.

We  said  that  we  would set about an orderly disposal of non-core
businesses.  This is progressing.

The  Board, after further consideration, is of the view that (given
the  circumstances  of the company) there is insufficient number of
shares  available  under  the  newly adopted Executive Share Option
Plan.   We are going to seek approval from the ABI to an alteration
to  the  limits  and  therefore we seek shareholder ratification of
those  amendments  to  an  Extraordinary General Meeting as soon as
possible.
