Hi Steve. I'm not posting on the PLUG board anymore due to JB infuriates me by removing my posts and being so snarkily anti-PLUG, but I wanted to suggest that you try joining the Facebook group: PLUG POWER INC (SHAREHOLDERS). So I chased you down here.

There is a lot of good information on it. There is even a daily brief posted each morning by Robert Friedlander, PLUG's Director of Investor Relations.

And I'm sure your 134 followers appreciate that.

But you asked me what made me an "expert"... I've answered, and I'll leave you now.

Best wishes-

I do that on my premium site.

iHub is of little importance to me where posting entry/exit is concerned. I have people that pay for that information- I'm not going to post it here for free.

I've been investing since I was 18. I'm 50 now and have been a full time investor for the last 5 years. I'm not a professor. I'm a self-taught investor.

It helps a little. Although to be fair, I know a lot of professors who don't understand investing in the practical sense.
Is there a reason you won't list your buys and sells?

Well...

I guess at this point I'm an industry-proclaimed expert.

My name is Gary Anderson and I've been invited to speak about 3D printing investments at the world's largest 3D printing expo in NYC next month. See speaker list:

http://www.mediabistro.com/inside3dprinting/new-york/speakers.asp

I've been named a "Top 100 3D Printing Innovator" and operate the Internet's largest web site related to 3D printing stocks at 3DPrintingStocks.com and have a popular premium subscription-based site at 3DPSPremium.com.

I don't "say more" because I'm usually multi-tasking and iHub is not a top priority for me many days.

I also write about 3D printing investing for Engineering.com and 3DPrintingIndustry.com, among others.

Hope that helps

Wait. Are you a self proclaimed industry expert? If you're the guy on SA who wrote the article, I read your bio. It didn't say much about you there either. I'd like to know what makes you an expert? You said you trade full time so you don't work in the field. Did you ever work in the industry? At what capacity? Did you study finance in college? Did you go to college?
And why won't you say more? I have a board where I ALWAYS state my purchase prices with sell targets and stop losses. That's what a real expert does.
I carry a fair share of weight around here. I've given head's ups to watch certain posters who perform well. I've even bought memberships for people who make me money.
Just claiming you're an expert means little, and unfortunately, getting hired by SA doesn't take all that much.

WOW that's a generic answer. Define successful? Give us an idea of how many 3-D stocks you own and how many shares?
I can follow you if you can show credibility. Lets start with CIMT. Why did it tank recently? Did you predict this?

New 3D Printing Stocks board

Hello DASTY investors. I invite you to "favorite" the new 3D Printing Stocks board and participate in intelligent conversation and obtain timely, actionable information about the stocks (including DASTY of course) in the 3D Printing space.

By following a board that focuses on the entire 3D printing space, you'll be a better informed investor, and (hopefully) get some good investment/trading ideas from it.

I look forward to the conversation with you at the 3D Printing Stocks board.

Gary

Not entirely sure. There was a rumored buy-out, or "buy-in"...that never appeared. My guess is that something related to "classifyed-work" thru a wrench into the deal.
...So little was occuring, it kinda put me off it too.

The education edition brings alot of features into the schools. The thermal-simulation for electronics design sounds facinating.

How can they if there are no buyers. You have to have liquidity to buy and sell. I see that as a downside to buying.

I see no trades. That is scary with no liquidity if yo buy and weird with such a large company. I even saw their ads on either FOX or CNBC.

And broken parts on antique autos and similar, parts that are no longer made. Even a broken part could provide the dimentions and shapes.
Jay Leno has a Three-D printer to make parts for his collection, or so I've been told.

Two others mentioned are DDD and SSYS. I can see this being done on hard to get replacement parts and made to order parts and know it can be done with less expensive items, but not sure on the profit margins on cheap items when compared to China and other cheap labor markets when it comes to novelties and the like. I can see great potential over time as the technology and material prices get to the point where you could design and make you own or use a pre made design and modify it to personlize it. I could see huge potential products that have sports teams logo and the like if cost came down. Just think you could either order the item online and have it made in your home or have a small office\wharehouse and run a business and mail order items.

Yes, there will definately be some displacement.
Whether it will occur disruptively fast, or gradually will depend on public acceptance/product-perfomance.

I personally know of an metalurgy-instrument manufactor that is waffling between suppliers of ceramic components.
With an "in-house" printer, these items could be made at their own facility, any "sizing" could be customized.
As it is for them now, they order from China...one-in-five of the parts fit correctly. Order the USA parts five-of-six fit, but the parts are 75% more expensive. (Still a savings with the USA parts, less labor trying to get shoddy, inaccurate parts to fit.)

Saw a blip on Motely Fool on this and bought the newsletter where they name DASTY and some others. I have not read the report yet. I do wonder what the cost versus mass manufacturing using injection molding is and how quickly it works compared to it. I can see the advantage of little to no waste of materials and no need for huge wharehouses with on demand type orders and supplies. I also think this could be disruptive in good and bad ways as many could be displaced.

A small company in NY, is offering items made Via 3D printing available to the general-public. They provide a data-base of already-created items, or you can create your own designs. This is "On-Topic", only as an example of the things that are now 3D-printed, Not to suggest a connection with Dassault systemes, although it might be possible some of the software used may have been developed by Dassault.

Welcome to the board. I heard about dassault systemes in reguards to possible-partnering with companys that produce 3D printers.
Three-Dimensional printing is about to change the world we live in. No longer will millions of dollars of capitol be required to prototype new items.
Currently I believe there are about 100 different materials being used in 3D printing, and the list is certain to grow, by leaps and bounds.

Dessault already makes very good design software, and it's really just a small step away from applying it to 3D printing.
