Postmedia Network Inc. (“Postmedia”) today debuted its newest
reimagined brand, the Vancouver Sun, with a cleaner and fresher
look. The Vancouver Sun’s four platforms – print, web, smartphone
and tablet – feature redesigned layout and content to further
engage the reader and enhance their experience. Also launching
today, an all-new content section: An Edition of NP in the
Vancouver Sun.
“The evolution of the Vancouver Sun takes a significant leap
forward today as we introduce the sleek redesign for our print
edition and website, as well as the new mobile app,” said Harold
Munro, Editor, Vancouver Sun. “The team and I are confident that
readers will enjoy and appreciate the new look and content
including the new print section, An Edition of NP in the Vancouver
Sun.”
The smartphone app, for iOS and Android, includes content
that is unique, updated frequently and delivered in short bursts
with an emphasis on follow and share, and is enabled for the Apple
Watch. A new layer of live local coverage called VS Now serves as
an urban tool keeping readers in the loop on such things as
Vancouver’s hot lunch spots, fashion news and can’t miss concerts.
The print edition focuses on insights and analysis on the
news that matters most to local audiences. The responsive
website is updated with breaking news 24 hours a day, has
videos featured prominently and provides a faster, more easily
navigated experience. The iPad app provides comprehensive
tablet news experiences with multimedia and rich photos.
The Vancouver Sun’s redesigned masthead combines the classic
nameplate with an abstract representation of the sea wall where the
water meets land. Rendered in shades of green and inspired by the
vast nature and greenery as well as the environmental-friendliness
of this coastal city, the new masthead reinforces our connection to
Vancouver and unifies our print, web, smartphone and tablet
platforms.
Print audiences will also be able to enjoy An Edition of NP in
the Vancouver Sun. The NP section contains national, political and
international news and analysis from some of the best columnists
including John Ivison, Christie Blatchford, Robert Fulford and
Michael Den Tandt. The Vancouver Sun’s inclusion marks the ninth
Postmedia newspaper to have the NP section.
Launch title sponsor Kia Canada has a full page ad featuring the
“Made for people like you sales event” in today’s and Saturday’s
print edition wrap. Kia Canada will also have premium ads
prominently placed on multiple platforms post-launch.
An exciting three-month marketing campaign, “At Your
Fingertips”, begins today featuring award-winning scientist and
environmental activist David Suzuki and celebrity chef, cookbook
author and television personality Vikram Vij. The campaign is
designed to reinforce the accessibility readers have to the
Vancouver Sun’s content.
Readers can download the redesigned smartphone app directly from
iTunes or Google Play for Android.
