Iplicity Platform for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure To Drive Improved Efficiency in Government DULLES, Va., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IceWEB, Inc.(TM) (OTC Bulletin Board: IWEB), http://www.iceweb.com/, today announced that the Company has been awarded a key contract by a Federal Agency to provide its Iplicity(TM) Unified Storage Platform to support a VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) deployment. The initial award is for a 16 terabyte platform and will enable the agency to commence testing within their research and development laboratory prior to full deployment. If the testing phase is successful, the contract may be expanded to procure Iplicity systems to support in excess of 8000 VDI images and home directories. John R. Signorello, CEO of IceWEB, Inc., commented on the contract award, "We are pleased that a government agency has selected the Iplicity virtualization engine for what we hope will be the first part of a large order. Iplicity is generating a great deal of interest as both private enterprises and the public sector adopts Virtualization and Cloud Computing models in order to streamline their operations, improve efficiency of resource utilization, and reduce costs." Iplicity was selected because of its tight integration with VMware, Citrix XEN, and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization software. VDI (now included in VMware's VMware View product suite) is VMware's solution which allows the hosting and virtualization of individual Client Operating Systems like Windows Vista or Linux on VMware ESX. The intent is to be able to deploy, secure and manage enterprise desktops within the data center. The VDI environment allows not only centralized provisioning and management of enterprise desktops, but file and data centralization as well, contributing greatly to the requirement for scalable and easily managed storage such as that provided by IceWEB's Iplicity solution.
