BELOIT, Wis., June 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MARATHON
ELECTRIC announced the debut of its new Ultra-Efficient™
permanent magnet motor line, SyMAX™ at the Electrical Apparatus
Service Association (EASA) Convention in Denver, Colorado. The SyMAX™ motor uses
an innovative permanent magnet design that makes it inherently more
efficient than a traditional induction motor.
"The innovation and science behind SyMAX™ represent a significant
move toward the next generation of motor technology," said
Dean Nienhuis, Marathon Electric's
Director of Marketing. "The combination of magnets and motors
will provide increased efficiencies and advanced control
features."
Currently there are two SyMAX™ models available - SyMAX™ FHP
(NEMA 48 frame) and SyMAX™ IHP (182-215T frame). This series
of motors incorporates a radial flux design which delivers high
torque, high efficiency and increased power density, providing
system maximization and the potential to eliminate sheaves and
belts, gearboxes and chains in certain applications. SyMAX™
also features the patented MAX GUARD® insulation system and IP54+
rated enclosures for long motor life in strenuous environments.
SyMAX-i™ FHP features IntelliDrive™, an embedded
electronic control system incorporating proprietary algorithms
allowing the power to be easily controlled while maintaining a high
efficiency level, and is expected to be available later this
year.
