WALTHAM, Mass., Dec. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/
-- Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) today announced the
sale of two INV-100 Ultra InVerde® combined heat and
power (CHP) units to a Brooklyn-based Award Winning Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center. The units will be an upgrade for a
unit destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
The InVerde system will provide space heat and hot water;
electricity and air conditioning. The air conditioning is
provided by the InVerde powering a steam fired boiler. The
Tecogen unit is expected to save the nursing and rehabilitation
center approximately $90K a year in
energy costs.
In addition to cost savings, the Tecogen system provides the
building with emergency stand-by power when grid power is
lost. This feature keeps the building's lights on and
elevators working during outages like those experienced in the
aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. In addition to significantly
reducing energy costs, the system cuts criteria pollutants, the
compounds contributing to smog.
"Beyond the cost savings of cogeneration, the Tecogen unit
provides the nursing home with the reliability of on-site power
generation," said Robert Panora,
President and COO of Tecogen. "Loss of power is dangerous in many
situations, but more so in a health care facility."
All Systems Cogeneration, a NY based firm is managing the
project. "Tecogen units are dependable, easy to service and
environmentally friendly," said Gregg
Giampaolo, president of All Systems Cogeneration. "Tecogen's
InVerde is also NYSERDA compliant, making it easy to sell in
New York."
