(NASDAQ:MTLG) announced today the promotion of Mark Ryan to vice president of its EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. Prior to his appointment, Ryan served as the region's managing director since June 2004. C. Harry Knowles, Metrologic's founder, chairman and interim chief executive officer cited Ryan's skill in securing agreements with major European retailers in the last two years as his motive for the promotion. Under Ryan's leadership, Metrologic-EMEA has achieved significant revenue growth and penetration of European tier-one retailers and system integrators, including Tesco UK, Tesco Central Europe, Systeme U and Wincor Nixdorf. Ryan joined Metrologic-EMEA in June 1994 and was initially responsible for generating sales within the United Kingdom market. In 2000, as regional manager, Ryan was responsible for the UK, Benelux and Scandinavian territories.
