Dell announced today the availability of the mCloud Helix Solution, an OpenStack-powered cloud appliance in partnership with Morphlabs, Inc. As a result, Dell customer Media Temple, a web hosting and cloud services company, is leveraging the new Dell integrated private cloud offering for its customers.

Media Temple estimates the mCloud Helix solution from Dell will enable an estimated 50 percent reduction in OPEX costs, and a reduction in data center footprint to a single 2U chassis. These reductions allow Media Temple to efficiently expand and meet the growing needs of its customers.

A highly-optimized private cloud offering, the turnkey modular mCloud Helix solution features Dell’s power-dense and energy-efficiently designed PowerEdge C6220 server system with solid state disks (SSD), OpenStack cloud software, and Dell’s Crowbar software framework, along with 24x7 remote management and support services that maintain configurations and pushes updates as needed. The solution is able to support up to 80 virtual CPUs (vCPUs) and 3TB1 in a single 2U C6220 chassis.

Dell is partnering with Morphlabs to bring this solution to market, as the first Platform Partner with Dell’s Emerging Solutions Ecosystem Program. The program enables Dell to offer specific differentiated cloud solutions to small and medium business customers like Media Temple, who now can provide their customers with new cloud services. Morphlabs, a leader in integrated Dynamic Infrastructure Services for the enterprise, is the first company to join the Dell Emerging Solutions Platform Partner program.
