Personal-computer maker Dell Inc. (DELL) plans to make
acquisitions related to intellectual property to boost the
company's data services business, Amit Midha, Dell's president for
Greater China and South Asia, said Tuesday.
Midha also said China is now Dell's second-biggest market by
revenue and the company plans to double its number of service
centers in the country to 2,000 this year.
There are currently 15,000 retail stores selling Dell products
in China and the company has to boost that number to increase its
presence in smaller Chinese cities, he said.
Dell last year announced plans to open a second major operations
center for China in the western city of Chengdu, and estimated it
would spend $100 billion in China over the next decade.
