SYDNEY--Australian tollroad company Transurban Group (TCL.AU) said Wednesday it's vying to add express lanes to Northern Virginia's Interstate 66.

The Virginia Department of Transportation has announced that its project to move more people on the road will be financed, designed, built and operated by the private sector.

Transurban said it will participate with partner Sweden-based Skanska AB (SKA-B.SK) in the competitive procurement process for the project.

Proposals are due by August next year, with a prefered bidder to be selected in the fourth quarter of 2016, Transurban said.
