Orica Gives Go Ahead For US$800 Million Burrup Ammonium Nitrate Plant

Explosives and chemicals maker Orica Ltd. (ORI.AU) said Monday
and its joint venture partners Yara International ASA (YAR.OS) and
Apache Corp. (APA) have signed off on an agreement to build a
US$800 million ammonium nitrate plant on the Burrup peninsula in
Western Australia.
Construction of the 330,000 ton-a-year plant is scheduled for
completion at the end of 2015, Orica said in a statement. It will
pay Yara and Apache US$110 million on commencement of
construction.
Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas SA (TRE.MC) will be appointed to build
the facility, it said.
