Austrian steel company Voestalpine AG (VOE.VI) Thursday said it
signed a supply agreement with Siemens AG (SI) and Midrex
Technologies Inc. on Wednesday evening.
MAIN FACTS:
-Financial details of the deal weren't disclosed, but
Voestalpine announced earlier this year the plant would cost around
550 million euros ($715 million) altogether.
-The consortium composed of Siemens and Midrex will provide
engineering, the mechanical and electrical equipment, and
consulting services for the plant.
-The plant is set to launch early 2016 and should employ around
150 employees.
-Voestalpine announced earlier that the plant is near Corpus
Christi, Texas, and will be capable of producing 2 million tons of
hot briquetted iron annually.
