Best Buy Co. (BBY) said flat-panel television sales in July didn't exceed December flat-panel TV sales, as Chief Executive Brian Dunn had indicated Wednesday during a media event.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Best Buy said Dunn misspoke. "Mr. Dunn intended to indicate that certain weeks during this summer selling period experienced unit volumes in flat- panel televisions that met or exceeded certainly weekly sales volumes during November and December of the previous year."
