                     Zambezi Nickel Board Director Resigns


Zambezi Nickel Limited ("Zambezi" or the "Company") (AIM Code: ZNI), the
AIM-quoted African nickel exploration and development company, today announces
that Hakainde Hichilema has resigned from the board of directors.

Hakainde Hichilema has stepped down from his distinguished career in the Zambian
business arena to pursue a career in politics. In this regard, Mr Hichilema has
been elected as the UDA presidential candidate for the forthcoming Zambian
general elections, scheduled for 28 September 2006.


Commenting on the announcement, Paul Rankine, CEO of Zambezi said:

strategy of fast-tracking our regional nickel prospects. The other directors of
