Seafield Resources plc hereby advises that it received the following
notification from the Co-operative Insurance Society Limited today.

QUOTE

COMPANIES ACT 1985 (AS AMENDED) SECTION 198 TO 210A
DISCLOSURE OF INTEREST IN SHARES

In accordance with the above provisions we hereby give you notice that the
Co-operative Insurance Society Limited now holds, as beneficial owner less
than 3% of the relevant issued share capital. 

Following the recommended offer by Dana Petroleum, the Society accepted the
share offer, which became unconditional as to acceptances as at 26th August
1997.  Our 3.12% holding of 2,179,486 Seafield Resources ordinary shares thus
became nil.
