Notification of major interests in shares

The Company received notification on 2 June 2003 from AMVESCAP PLC ('AMVESCAP')
and subsidiary companies on behalf of discretionary clients that, following the
purchase of 350,000 shares on 30 May 2003. AMVESCAP has an interest within the
meaning of Part VI of the Act in 10,113,882 Ordinary 1p Shares. This represents
26.16% of the issued share capital. Details of that interest, together with a
breakdown between registered holders (as required by Section 202(3) of the Act),

None of these shares are beneficially owned by AMVESCAP. Subsidiary companies of
AMVESCAP have a large number of portfolio management clients for whom they act
as investment manager and investment advisor, and by virtue of Section 203 of
the Companies Act 1985 AMVESCAP is deemed to have the same interest in the
shares.

The above holding includes 4,137,411 shares representing 10.70% held by INVESCO
Perpetual Income Fund and 1,341,006 shares representing 3.47% held by INVESCO
Perpetual UK Growth Fund, both registered in the name of Vidacos Nominees
Limited.
