Merger Clearance


The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry has decided, on the information at
present before her, and in accordance with the recommendation of the Director
General of Fair Trading, not to refer the following merger to the Monopolies
and Mergers Commission under the provisions of the Fair Trading Act 1973:

Proposed acquisition by Anglian Water plc of Hartlepool Water plc               
         
Acquisition by: Partek OY AB of a controlling interest in Sisu AB; Aker ASA of
material influence in Sisu AB; the Finnish State of material influence in
Partek OY AB


Acquisition by Scottish Hydro-Electric plc of certain assets of NORWEB plc,
namely Keadby Power Ltd


Acquisition by Camas Building Materials Ltd of the concrete block and
pre-stressed concrete floor beam manufacturing businesses of Kenny and Murphy
Ltd.
