Ferrexpo's humanitarian support has
evolved over time, initially focused on providing shelter, food and
essentials to internally displaced people, ongoing support for
colleagues serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to supporting
veterans' rehabilitation.
In addition, numerous employee and
community initiatives supporting health, education, social and
infrastructure needs have been undertaken, in addition to donations
to national emergencies, such as the Kherson region in the
aftermath of the Nova Kakhovka Dam explosion and Ohmatdyt National
Specialised Children's Hospital.
Commenting on the award, Yuriy Khimich, Ferrexpo Group CSR
Lead said:
"I am grateful that
our humanitarian efforts have been recognised internationally as a
"champion" at the Global Good Awards. When the full-scale invasion
of Ukraine was launched, amid all the fear, we knew we could help
and immediately set to work. Within days, I looked out of my office
window and could see the first people passing by as they fled from
the Eastern provinces. We were able to provide these people with
shelter, food and medicines, and other needs.
As the war has progressed, we have
adapted our efforts to the changing needs of society. This has
included donations to national emergencies such as Kakhovka and
Ohmatdyt, providing back packs and essentials for mobilised
colleagues, working with community partners to rebuild
infrastructure, building bomb shelters, and most lately, the
establishment of a Veteran's rehabilitation programme. So much has
been achieved by the whole of Ferrexpo. I am honoured that we have
made a meaningful difference. We will continue to do
so."
Commenting on the award, Natalie Polischuk, Board Member of
Ferrexpo plc and
Chair of the Board Health, Safety, Environment and Communities
Committee said:
"I would like to share my heart felt
appreciation for all Ferrexpo colleagues for their tremendous
commitment to supporting the many humanitarian endeavours that are
providing a positive social impact in our communities and across
Ukraine.
As the scale of our humanitarian
support increased, we formalised all the various activities with
the establishment of the 'Ferrexpo Humanitarian Fund'. Under the
direction of the Board, the fund will continue to provide
invaluable support."
