BRITISH SMALLER TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES VCT PLC ("the Company")

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Company announces that the Annual General Meeting was held on 27 May 2005
and all the resolutions proposed were passed. The final dividend for the year of
2.5 pence per share will be paid to eligible shareholders on 3 June 2005.

Commenting on progress in the new financial year, the Chairman, Sir Andrew Hugh
Smith, said, "The Board continues to have confidence that, over the long term,
the performance of the investment portfolio will continue to improve. The recent
deterioration in business confidence caused by poor economic performance in the
major European economies and the slow down in the UK retail and housing market
is expected to have some effect on short term performance, particularly on
realisation opportunities through IPOs or trade sales."
