The Big Food Group plc announces that it has posted a circular to its
shareholders in connection with the proposed sale and leaseback of 31 of its
properties. The circular contains notice of an extraordinary general meeting to
be held on 14 June 2002 at 10 a.m.

A copy of the circular has been submitted to the UK Listing Authority and is
available for inspection at the UK Listing Authority's Document Viewing
Facility, which is situated at: Financial Services Authority, 25 The North
