New Management Board for Baloise subsidiaries
Deutscher Ring Sach and Deutscher Ring Leben

Basel/Bad Homburg/Hamburg, 26 Nov 2008. The Supervisory Boards of Deutscher
Ring Sachversicherungs-AG (DR Sach) and Deutscher Ring Lebensversicherungs-AG
(DR Leben) have today appointed a new Management Board and announced the new
departmental responsibilities. The new Board of DR Sach and DR Leben will be
under one and the same management as Basler Versicherungen (Baloise Insurance)
in Bad Homburg, which also belongs to the Baloise Group.

Frank Grund (50), CEO of Basler Versicherungen since 2003, has been appointed
CEO of DR Sach and DR Leben with immediate effect. He is also responsible for
sales & marketing - an area which he currently manages at Basler
Versicherungen. Clemens Fuchs (51) is responsible for nonlife insurance,
Hubertus Ohrdorf (62) for life insurance & finance, and Christoph Wetzel (45)
for operations.

"I am delighted that we have been able to place DR Sach and DR Leben into the
hands of an established management team which has already been working together
successfully for several years", says Martin Wenk, Chairman of the DR Sach and
DR Leben Supervisory Boards. The new Management Board of DR Sach and DR Leben
will begin its work immediately.
"My colleagues and I are delighted with this vote of confidence and will do all
we can, together with our employees and sales partners, to lead Baloise's German
business units into a successful future", says new CEO Frank Grund.

On 11 November 2008, Baloise Group announced its intention to place all its
German business units under uniform management in order to increase its
competitiveness and generate profitable growth. This includes DR Sach, DR Leben
and Basler Versicherungen. In future, the company's central management functions
will be located in Bad Homburg. "The Hamburg location will also play an
important role in future operations", says Frank Grund. The tried-and-tested
alliance with Deutscher Ring Krankenversicherungsverein a.G. (DR Kranken) is to
be continued. "In the short term, we want to join forces with DR Kranken and
are pleased that both the Supervisory Board and the CEO of the health insurance
company have expressed their willingness to continue with this constructive
collaboration", says Frank Grund.
