Update Change in Substantial Shareholder Interest and Update re Takeover

Aztec was informed today by Mt Gibson Iron Ltd ("Mt Gibson") that its interest
in Aztec is now 1,022,561,481 ordinary shares or 90.06%, including shares owned
by parties who have accepted the Offer. The previous notice by Mt Gibson of its
interest in Aztec, on 20 December 2006, stated that at that time Mt Gibson had
an interest in 1,008,590,180 ordinary shares or 88.98%.

As a result of the above, Mt Gibson also announced today that as all the
applicable thresholds in the takeover bid have been reached, Mt Gibson will be
commencing the compulsory acquisition process to acquire all the remaining fully
paid ordinary shares in Aztec which it does not already own.

The takeover is scheduled to close at 5.00pm (Perth, Western Australian time) on
22 December 2006 and will not extend beyond that date.
