("ATH", the "Company" or the "Group")

Suspension of Shares

The Directors of ATH Resources plc (AIM:ATH), one of the UK's largest coal producers, announce that its lender, BECAP Capital Coal Limited (the "Lender"), has today demanded repayment of the Group's facilities, in full, with immediate effect. The Company cannot satisfy the full repayment of the facility and consequently, the Lender has today appointed administrators to ATH Resources plc under powers contained in the security held by it.

William Wright, Brian Green and Allan Graham of KPMG LLP have been appointed as administrators of the Company.

Accordingly, the Company considers itself to be unable to assess its current and future financial position and so has requested that the trading of its ordinary shares on the AIM Market of London Stock Exchange be suspended from trading.

The Company's principal trading subsidiary Aardvark TMC Limited is not in administration and continues to trade.

The Board will make further announcements as necessary in due course.
