Notes :

1. The above results may undergo changes on finalisation of tariff for the year 
   ending 31 March 2002 by West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission, award 
   in respect of which is pending.
     
2. In view of Note 1, accounts for the quarter ended 30 September 2001 could not
   be finalised and, therefore, provision for deferred taxation, if any, could  
   not be made.

3. The Company is engaged in generation and distribution of electricity and does
   not operate in any other segment.
     
4. Auditors' Report on the latest audited accounts for the year 1999-2000       
   included reference to some unbilled fuel surcharge dues and unprovided claims
   of West Bengal State Electricity Board for delayed payment surcharge and     
   certain other charges. The Company has followed the same basis of accounting 
   in respect of these matters while preparing the above unaudited financial    
   results.
