                  DEUTSCHLAND INVESTMENT CORPORATION INC

The Board of Deutschland Investment Corporation Inc is pleased to announce that
it has disposed of its investment in Wap Reinigungssysteme GmbH & Co.

As a result of the transaction, Deutschland Investment Corporation net proceeds
(including the amounts held against warranties under escrow) will be DM 30.4
million.  This compares to an original cost and Directors' valuation of DM 12.0
million as at 31 July 1998.  Assuming there are no claims under the warranties,
the increase in NAV per share will therefore be DEM 3.07 per share over the
valuation as at 31 July 1998.
