On 4 July 2016, S&P downgraded Town and Country Housing Group and the Bonds from AA- to A+ with a stable outlook.

S&P downgraded almost all of the housing associations it rates as a result of the Brexit vote. S&P's view is that the likelihood of government support for housing associations now has a neutral effect on ratings in the housing association sector, rather than an uplift.
