SmartMetric Fingerprint EMV Cards Use Active Fingerprint Sensor Embedded Into the Cards Surface Connected to an Advanced Internal Circuit Board Half the Thickness of a Standard Credit Card

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - May 27, 2014) - SmartMetric, Inc. (OTCQB: SMME) -- The SmartMetric biometric credit and debit cards have an embedded fingerprint sensor in the surface of the card that is connected to an internal circuit board half the thickness of a standard credit card. Using components that have been re-engineered by SmartMetric has allowed the company to achieve this staggering reduction in component size. SmartMetric President and CEO Chaya Hendrick said, "Not only have we achieved a huge reduction in component size but we have successfully added a battery recharging power management system that now extended the useful life of the card from months to years."

The SmartMetric payment cards use the banking standard EMV chip on its cards that is only activated for a transaction after a successful fingerprint match on the card. Because the persons fingerprint never leaves the card, people do not have to give their fingerprint over for storage on a central computer providing further protection to the consumer. Also the persons actual fingerprint itself is not stored in the card but what is called minutiae points that are in turn encrypted and stored inside the card. So a person's fingerprint itself cannot be recovered from the SmartMetric fingerprint reading cards.
