CALGARY, ALBERTA , today announced that it has successfully
completed its first contract with Quebec-based Precision Timing
International, a world leader in sports timing technology and event
expertise.
Screen Giant supplied high-resolution full-color outdoor video
screens for the FIS World Cups which took place in the majestic
Canadian Rockies at Panorama, British Columbia and Lake Louise,
Alberta. The Races were held at Panorama on Nov 24-25, 2007 and at
Lake Louise on Nov 24-25, 2007 as well as Dec 1-2, 2007.
These LED video displays were extremely important to the racers.
After crossing the finish line, they could immediately look to see
where they had placed in the race and what the times were.
Spectators could also monitor intermediate times to see if a racer
had a chance to win, making the event more exciting for them.
Ski hills are a big challenge for display companies, with
temperatures ranging between -15 and -25 degrees Celsius and wind
chills in the -30 degree Celsius range. Also, Lake Louise faces
directly south into the winter sun so brightness is a major factor.
With Screen Giant video boards generating 10,000 nits of
brightness, viewing was no problem despite the sun.
