Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) has resolved shipping issues that temporarily forced it to halt sales of Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s (NTDOY, 7974.TO) 3DS gaming device.

Earlier in the day, a message displayed on the 3DS product page said, "customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here."

The issues have since been resolved, and orders are once more being taken, both Amazon and Nintendo said.

"There are no issues with Nintendo 3DS inventory or quality," Nintendo added.

Nintendo and rival Sony Corp. (SNE, 6758.TO) have sought to beat back competition from smartphones capable of supporting powerful games with handheld devices such as the 3DS, which sells on Amazon for $250.

Nintendo launched the 3DS in the U.S. in March.

In after-hours trading, Amazon shares were up 0.4% at $214.40 after ending the regular session down 1.4%.
