Deutsche Post AG said Thursday that it would resume wage negotiations with Verdi on Friday after the German union said the majority of its members had voted in favor of an indefinite strike.

The German union logistics giant said it had presented an offer to the 160,000 workers in the latest round of negotiations which was rejected by Verdi after 86% of its members voted against it and in favor of the strike.

Deutsche Post said it offered an inflation-related bonus of 3,000 euros ($3,163.05) over a two-year period and an increase in wages and training allowances of EUR340 a month until the end of 2024.

Verdi is demanding a wage increase of 15% with a term of further negotiations of 12 months, it said.
