19 7월 2008 - 5:00AM
Business Wire
Ballistic Recovery Systems, Inc. (Pink Sheets:BRSI), a manufacturer
of whole-aircraft emergency parachute systems, announced today that
its new 5000 series parachute canopy fully complies with ASTM
standard F2316 for whole-aircraft emergency recovery systems. With
this compliance, the flying public can be assured that the design
and functionality of our new 5000 series parachute will meet the
rigorous standards of this industry-governing bodya milestone that
differentiates us from any other manufacturer to date, commented
BRS VP of Engineering, Frank Hoffmann. In addition to compliance
with the ASTM standard, BRS has submitted its test plan for the
5000 series to the FAA for Part 23 certification review. Once
approved, this parachute will be available for use on certificated
aircraft within the weight category for which it was designed.
Being ASTM-compliant, and soon-to-be Part 23 certified for this
new weight-category parachute, means BRS can readily support the
higher-weight category VLJs and heavier piston airframessomething
not possible only a few months ago. added CEO Larry Williams. BRS
will be aggressively marketing this system and sees a bright future
for parachute systems in this new arena of heavier aircraft.
