Bourque Industries today announced the Company is expanding its
Kryron Terminator Armor line and will begin sales of the Terminator
Ultralight trauma plate in early 2012. Pricing and distribution
information will be released shortly after the new year.
Designed to meet a common law enforcement body armor requirement
– providing additional pistol-caliber protection to a standard
police-issue Level IIIA soft armor vest – the new 5”x8” Terminator
Ultralight trauma plate weighs in at 12.96 ounces.
In testing conducted December 16 at Oregon Ballistics, the
Terminator Ultralight was shown to exceed NIJ.06 Level II body
armor standards, defeating the high-powered .44 Magnum in a
stand-alone configuration at a distance of 8 feet, staying within
the standard 44mm back face deformation parameter. The new plate
also provides multi-impact protection against Level II standard
.357 and 9mm ammunition.
“Our new Terminator Ultralight body armor provides today's law
enforcement officer with the best of both worlds,” said John M.
Bourque, Founder and CEO of Bourque Industries. “They get enhanced
ballistic protection, up to .44 Magnum even without additional
armor protection, in a package that weighs less than 13 ounces for
ultimate all-day wearability and comfort.”
The Ultralight shares all of the same innovative advantages of
other Terminator armor products made with Bourque's Kryron
technology: reliable multi-impact protection, elimination of
ricochet and spall, and – especially important for smaller plate
sizes – Terminator armor defeats edge shots just as reliably as
those in the center of the armor plate. This advantage increases
the effective impact area of Terminator armor when compared with
other protection systems.
In addition to the 5”x8” size, the Terminator Ultralight will
also be available in a range of other dimensions including 10”x12”,
6”x9”, and 4”x8”.
