Sun Media Corporation announces the launch of four new community newspapers serving more than 400,000 homes in Ontario. The new weeklies will begin arriving on doorsteps in Ottawa, Windsor, Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph by the end of March, further strengthening Sun Media's position as Canada's leading newspaper publisher.

"The expansion of our community newspaper network is a bold statement of our commitment to the newspaper industry," said Julia Kamula, Sun Media's executive Vice President for Central Canada. "It also responds directly to the needs of our valued advertising partners, delivering access to an even stronger flyer distribution footprint in highly desirable Ontario markets."

Readers of the Ottawa Capital City News, K-W Review, Windsor This Week, and Guelph Review will be greeted with the best in local community news, sports, events, and much more. Offering community websites, local editorial, targeted advertising and zoned distribution, there's value and opportunity stacked up for both readers and advertisers.

Sun Media's new weekly community newspapers will now package local news, unique access to life moment celebrations, regular editorial features, flyer distribution, opinions, photos and much more, all in one exciting readership package!

Local community engagement will be considerable with numerous opportunities for readers to submit content, comment on news and respond to advertising partner messaging. Coincident with this announcement, Smart Shopper products in these markets will cease production with many resources transitioning to the new weekly papers.

Sun Media offers the only weekly printed news source in the Windsor core, the largest newspaper distribution coverage vehicle in Kitchener-Waterloo, access to seven highly targeted advertising zones in Ottawa, and a well established, FDSA approved, distribution network.

"With well established readership communities, extensive distribution and new local focused community papers with supporting websites, there's never been a better time to choose Sun Media for readership or advertising," said Julia Kamula.
