Treevix™ herbicide, powered by
Kixor® herbicide technology from BASF’s Crop
Protection division, has received approval from the California
Department of Pesticide Regulation for use in California, giving
tree nut, pome fruit and citrus growers another tool to fight
yield-robbing broadleaf weeds in their orchards.
Treevix offers a unique chemistry that complements
glyphosate for fast, complete burndown of more than 60 of the
toughest broadleaf weeds including difficult species, such as
common groundsel, hairy fleabane, cheeseweed and pigweed.
“PCAs in California have struggled with finding an effective way
to address difficult weeds,” said Brandie Penrose, Technical
Marketing Specialist, BASF. “Treevix offers the perfect
balance – a product that provides the functionality needed to
effectively manage tough weeds while being easy to work with.”
Some of the key features of Treevix include:
- Unique chemistry designed to
target tough weeds
- Tree-safe, non-volatile
- Ideal tank-mix partner to
enhance broadleaf weed control
- Flexible application timing
- Short pre-harvest application
window
- Simple to use
Treevix is designed to be easily tank-mixed. Extensive
research in California and around the country has demonstrated that
Treevix can boost the effectiveness of other products in the
tank, such as glyphosate, providing the additional power needed to
knock out weeds that other herbicides may be missing.
“BASF has been working with PCAs in California to evaluate the
effectiveness of Treevix,” said Penrose. “Key features PCAs
have mentioned are the fast knockdown of tough broadleaf weeds and
the excellent tree safety.”
Additionally, Treevix provides more flexible pre-harvest
interval timing- a seven-day PHI for nut trees and no PHI for
citrus or pome fruit. This helps ensure a clean orchard floor for
harvest, even in areas where late season weeds are present.
Treevix is part of the Kixor family of products,
designed to offer growers a customized solution to increase
broadleaf weed control in fields and orchards and help them get the
most out of every acre.
