Extended Systems (NASDAQ:XTND), a leading provider of mobile software solutions, announced today the availability of OneBridge Mobile Secure version 2.0. An add-on software module to the Company's OneBridge Mobile Platform, OneBridge Mobile Secure 2.0 provides IT administrators with exceptional control over mobile devices and the information they carry. OneBridge Mobile Secure 2.0 allows an organization to extend and enforce security policies to the myriad of mobile devices currently located outside the confines of the corporate firewall. Version 2.0 brings a best-in-class feature set such as strong encryption across all platforms and importantly, separates device authentication from device encryption. Although simple in concept, this has profound usability implications, enabling smartphone users to answer the phone without having to enter the device password. With FIPS 140-2 Validation and Common Criteria EAL-4 certification, OneBridge Mobile Secure 2.0 is suitable for government projects within the U.S., across Europe and other countries. In addition, version 2.0 provides end-to-end encryption and is capable of encrypting files found on external media cards, such as SD cards. IT managers will also appreciate the software's ability to remotely manage mobile devices from any browser. From an end-user ease-of-use standpoint, version 2.0 employs easy-to-remember PicturePIN(TM) password capabilities. PicturePIN is a user-friendly interface that provides pictures for entering the PIN. To further increase security, the pictures are shuffled at each authentication. This makes it almost impossible to learn a PIN by "shoulder surfing." Moreover, OneBridge Mobile Secure 2.0 also supports the use of alphanumeric passwords, if desired. Centrally controlled security administration enables IT to switch from PicturePIN to alphanumeric at any time. "We are bringing a best-in-class solution to our customers," said Jeff Warner, VP of marketing at Extended Systems. "With this release, we believe that security concerns will no longer be a barrier to large-scale deployments of enterprise applications on mobile devices." OneBridge Mobile Secure 2.0 is a rebranded version of software provided by Extended Systems' partner Pointsec Mobile Technologies. Pointsec has been consistently recognized by industry analysts as the leading provider of security solutions for mobile devices. Extended Systems and Pointsec recently announced that they would offer an integrated OEM version of each other's solutions to their respective customer bases. Pricing and Availability OneBridge Mobile Secure 2.0 is available now. Pricing is based on a perpetual, per-seat licensing fee.
