VERITAS and Sun Expand Alliance and Relationship Around Solaris (TM) Operating System VERITAS Expands Commitment to Solaris OS by Supporting Sun's x86 Systems on Both AMD Opteron- and Intel-Based Platforms; Sun Commits to Deliver Customers Broader Range of VERITAS Software With Expanded Reseller Agreement MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- VERITAS Software Corporation and Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced an agreement to expand their decade-long, global alliance. As a result, VERITAS will broaden its support for the Solaris platform to include Sun's Solaris(TM) Operating System (OS) for x86 systems, for both AMD Opteron- and Intel-based platforms. "VERITAS and Sun are strong, strategic partners with a long and successful history of delivering value to our joint customers," said Gary Bloom, VERITAS chairman, president and CEO. "VERITAS' decision to broaden its support of the Sun platform to include Solaris x86 and Sun's decision to expand its already significant commitment to VERITAS solutions represents a win for customers and a win for each company."
