WALTHAM, Mass., April 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen®
Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) is pleased to announce the sale of multiple
units totaling a combined 900 kW to a school district in Long
Island, NY. The result of careful Tecogen engineering work
announced last summer (press release here:
http://investors.tecogen.com/2015-07-16-Tecogen-Receives-Contract-to-Engineer-Six-Combined-Heat-and-Power-CHP-Systems-for-NY-School-District),
the order, with total contract value of approximately $2 million, includes both InVerde 100 kW and
CM-75 kW combined heat and power (CHP) units as well as load
modules, factory engineered accessories, and long-term service
agreements.
Speaking about the order Benjamin
Locke, Tecogen's co-CEO, noted, "This large order was the
result of careful and tireless work by our engineering and turnkey
installation team. That a large multi-national energy services
company (ESCO) saw the value in selecting Tecogen as a project
partner is a real testament to the unique features of our
ultra-efficient clean energy equipment and the quality of our
expert team of personnel."
The CHP systems are sized for the energy requirements of each
individual school by grouping modules to maximize efficiency and
savings, utilizing Tecogen's exclusive microgrid control
technology. The smallest two systems, both to be installed in
district middle schools, will utilize a single CHP unit while the
largest, a high school, will use five units. On a combined basis
the 900 kW system will cut carbon emissions by 2,086 tons per year,
equivalent to saving 86,925 trees or removing 398 cars from the
road annually.
The energy efficient cogeneration equipment will be fitted with
Tecogen's patented Ultera emissions control technology, bringing
the emission of harmful criteria pollutants (NOx and CO) to
near-zero levels. "Any equipment operating near children or other
sensitive environments should be as clean as possible. Compliant
with the strictest air quality standards in the world, our Ultera
emissions control system ensures our ultra-efficient cogeneration
technology is also ultra-clean, a feature unmatched by other
engine-driven equipment on the market today," added Robert Panora, Tecogen's President and COO.
The contract was awarded by a construction firm under
subcontract with the ESCO which is providing a broader range of
efficiency services to the district. The systems have been
engineered to include Tecogen factory controllers and skid-mounted
plumbing assemblies that interface to each school's building
infrastructure.
