WALTHAM, Mass., June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen® Inc.
(NASDAQ: TGEN) today announced the sale of two CM-75 combined heat
and power (CHP) modules to a school district in New Jersey located approximately 35 miles from
New York City. One unit will
be installed at the borough's high school and the other at the
middle school. The CHP systems will provide electrical power
for the two schools and supplement various onsite heating systems,
resulting in a significant cost savings to the borough as well as
reduced carbon footprint.
The CHP systems are part of a larger energy project being
conducted by the local office of multi-national energy services
company (ESCO) involving the five schools in the district, with the
remaining three serving elementary-level students. The
systems were purchased separately by two subcontractors and
included accessories that reduce installation labor and cost.
These accessories, which represent 40% of the total purchase
order value, are factory assembled controllers and skid-mounted
plumbing assemblies that interface to each building heating
system.
Both systems, including the engineered accessories, are expected
to be serviced under a long-term contract with Tecogen's
Piscataway, NJ service center as
required for eligibility for the state CHP grant. This is the
third school district in the area whereby Tecogen systems were
procured through this local ESCO office.
"We are very gratified when we have repeat orders from the same
ESCO office in such a significant market segment," said
Robert Panora, President and COO of
Tecogen. "Successful project outcomes lead to other
opportunities with neighboring offices in this and other vertical
markets they serve. Also, the procurement of factory
preassembled plumbing skids and specialized controllers with the
modules is a growing trend. Customers value these engineered
accessories from the factory as they can have high confidence that
the components will be correctly specified and constructed, saving
time and expensive field labor. In the past year, about half
of our module sales included these factory built accessories."
