WALTHAM, Mass., June 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ilios Dynamics
Inc., a subsidiary of Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) today
announced the sale of (2) Ilios HEWH-500-AS natural gas engine
driven, air-source heat pump water heaters.
The units are being purchased and installed by American DG
Energy and are to be installed in a large hotel on
Oahu's Waikiki Beach. By using a
combination of clean burning natural gas and renewable energy found
in the surrounding air, the Ilios unit will offset fuel use in the
existing boiler plant by producing domestic hot water at a much
higher efficiency; thereby saving energy, reducing operating costs,
and lowering greenhouse gas emissions for the property.
"We are excited to increase our footprint in Hawaii as it is a superb market for our
products, especially in the hospitality space," said Stephen Lafaille, Ilios Product Manager. "We are
contributing to a new trend where hotels are opting to first spend
money in the back of the house on energy efficiency, which in turn
frees up money that can then be spent in the front of the house.
That wasn't always the approach which is why we run into a lot of
existing systems that are inefficient. It offers an immense
opportunity to help these properties save energy and decrease their
carbon footprint, something that today's guests are putting a lot
of value in."
The sale is accompanied by a fully inclusive, long-term
maintenance contract.
