Pioneer Announces That Its Shelf Registration Statement Is Now
Effective HOUSTON, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pioneer
Companies, Inc. (OTC:PONR) (BULLETIN BOARD: PONR) announced that
the Securities and Exchange Commission has declared that the shelf
registration statement on Form S-3 that Pioneer filed on September
9, 2004, is now effective. The registration statement allows
Pioneer to issue common stock, preferred stock, warrants, senior
debt and subordinated debt up to an aggregate amount of $100
million from time to time, providing enhanced flexibility to
benefit from market conditions to enhance Pioneer's capital
structure. Pioneer, based in Houston, manufactures chlorine,
caustic soda, bleach, hydrochloric acid and related products used
in a variety of applications, including water treatment, plastics,
pulp and paper, detergents, agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals
and medical disinfectants. Pioneer owns and operates four
chlor-alkali plants and several downstream manufacturing facilities
