EDGAR Online to Present on Data Transparency at DATA Demo Day

EDGAR® Online, Inc. (NASDAQ: EDGR), a premier provider of fundamental financial data, analytics and disclosure management services, today announced that Elias- John Kies, director of analytics, will present at DATA Demo Day in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, July 10. Hosted by the Data Transparency Coalition, the conference will explore the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act (DATA Act), which focuses on how U.S. government spending information is reported, analyzed and used.

“In passing the DATA Act earlier this year, the House of Representatives signaled that it is time to bring accountability, transparency and efficiency into how the government’s financial data is reported and compiled. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has already recognized the importance of data transparency and has mandated the use of technology standards such as XBRL to provide a unified platform from which data may be easily analyzed for risk management, compliance and oversight purposes,” said Kies, director of analytics, EDGAR Online. “EDGAR Online is well known for its thought leadership in the proper use of XBRL to provide structure to unstructured information in order to promote data transparency. Kies will join other Data Transparency Coalition members to demonstrate emerging analytical tools based on the XBRL data technology standard. Through the implementation of a single platform and data identifiers or tags given to the information, the DATA Act will allow government agencies, Congress and citizens to easily search large amounts of data and employ analytical tools for better financial management and transparency.

The conference will take place at the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center in Washington, D.C. on July 10 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
