AirNet Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:ANCC), the technology leader in software defined base station solutions for wireless communications, today announced it has received a purchase order for approximately US$5M in products and services from an undisclosed customer in the Asia-Pacific region. Under the terms of the 5 year supply contract, AirNet will deploy its AdaptaCell(R) 4000XE base stations, its award winning AirSite(R) Backhaul Free(TM) TripCap(TM) base stations, and related common equipment and services. The network will initially have approximately 40 cell sites, and is planned for deployment in phases throughout the remainder of 2005. The customer will also be deploying GPRS services which will enable its subscribers to access the latest in high-speed data services, including web browsing, sending images, and accessing email. "This order was awarded after an extensive review of AirNet's technology, products and capabilities," said Glenn Ehley, president and CEO of AirNet. "An order of this magnitude is a strong endorsement of our people, vision, and a testament to our technology and products. I am very pleased that our customer base is expanding. We hope to continue building on our focused marketing efforts." "This is proof positive that AirNet's customized product solutions are well positioned in the global market," said Timothy J. Mahar, Vice President of Sales for AirNet Communications. "The beauty of our SDR product architecture is that we offer a software migration path to EDGE and adaptive array processing. No other supplier can provide this ease of upgrade capability." Powered by AirNet's flexible broadband, SDR product architecture, the AdaptaCell 4000 XE is a compact, outdoor base station capable of pole mounting. In addition, the 4000 XE operates on either A/C power, in its minimal configuration, or DC power and supports SuperCapacity(TM) adaptive array technology and high-speed data. The Triple Capacity Digital AirSite Backhaul Free base station provides three times the capacity of the Digital AirSite base station. In addition, the digital "TripCap" is easy to install and has state-of-the-art operation and maintenance capabilities.
