ABAXIS Announces Appointment of Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Medical Market UNION CITY, Calif., April 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Abaxis, Inc. (NASDAQ:ABAX), a medical products company manufacturing point-of-care blood analysis systems, announced today that it had appointed Lucien Ramondetta as its new Vice President of Marketing and Sales for the Domestic Medical Market. Prior to joining Abaxis, Mr. Ramondetta was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Medical Systems Division of Philips Electronics, Ltd., a $38 billion manufacturer of medical imaging equipment, lighting, electronics and appliances. Prior to Philips Electronics, he was the Director of Global Sales and Marketing of the Optoelectronics Division of Perkin Elmer Corporation, responsible for managing medical, specialty electronics and laser products. In addition, Mr. Ramondetta had a long tenure in various sales and marketing management positions with General Electric in both the Medical and Plastics divisions. The system consists of a compact, 6.9 kilogram, portable analyzer and a series of 8-cm diameter single-use plastic disks, called rotors or reagent discs that contain all the reagents necessary to perform a fixed menu of tests. The system can be operated with minimal training and perform multiple tests on whole blood using either venous or fingerstick samples.
