                           PURCHASE OF OWN SECURITIES

Fortress Holdings plc announces that 1,600,000 ordinary shares of 20 pence each
representing 3.16% of the issued share capital of the Company, were purchased
today for cancellation, at a price of 25 pence per share.


Following this transaction, the issued share capital of the Company is now
49,086,444 shares.

Consequently, the holding of Greville Howard, Chairman (whose beneficial holding
of 6,050,000 remains unchanged) now represents 12.33% of the Company's entire
issued share capital.
